This event is a fundraiser to help reelect Saint Paul City Council Member Melvin Carter, who has represented Ward 1 since 2007. Council Member Carter’s work on the council has focused on driving citywide education reform to close the Achievement Gap, making sure light rail transit serves its adjacent neighborhoods well, and bringing jobs, housing and economic development to the area. His re-election campaign is DFL- and Labor-Endorsed.

(photo stolen from City Pages coverage of last years shindig – Love you CP, don’t be mad.)

Heiruspecs will be playing a show at Cause Soundbar in uptown this Thursday. Bring a few buddies and build up your booze tolerance for NYE the next night. This is a 21+ show and there are no presale tickets so get there early, get a drink and party with us. Booka B on the wheels and Toki Wright on the mic. Should be a night to remember!

See you there –

Felix

We are very honored to be asked to play and hope some of you lovely folks will come join us in celebrating the contributions of black musicians in this awesome scene we have here.  Info on when/where/ and how to get in can be found here —-> http://www.hennepintheatretrust.org/events/2010-minnesota-black-music-awards

“Heiruspecs” Minneapolis Sound Hip Hop royality Feature artist for the 2010 MBMA July 16th, St.Paul, Minnesota most celebrated Hip Hop group, December 22nd declared Heiruspecs Day by the City of St. Paul, Central High School Alumni, known for live instrumentation performances and commitment to the Minnesota music scene and their community.

Starting tomorrow we’ll be giving away two pairs of tickets every weekday until next Wednesday to see Heiruspecs, along with a slew of other awesome acts. AND, because you’re such awesome fans, we’re giving you TWO ways to win:

1. Hip Hop Trivia. We’ll announce a Hip Hop trivia question every weekday morning on our Facebook Page. Be the first to tweet the answer (be sure to add #HeiruspecsTasteofMN to the tweet) to the daily Hip Hop Trivia question to win a pair. You’ll need to be a fan of ours on Facebook, of course. If you’re not a fan yet, you should be, shame on you (juuust kidding)! Come see us here; http://www.facebook.com/pages/Heiruspecs/7184491039.

2. Show your Heiruspecs Pride. Change your Profile picture to something Heiruspecs. This can be an album cover, a picture of you at a show, heck, make something awesome yourself, just make sure it says "Heiruspecs" in it somewhere. We’ll select one fan each weekday to receive a pair of tickets. Just for being awesome. And because we love you.

I love Grand Old Days. I love St. Paul. Thanks to everyone who came out.

A few shots of rehearsals from the last couple days or so…

Very Tired and VERY Excited to do this benefit show tomorrow. LOTS of awesome guests joining us.

Heiruspecs is going to be featuring a lot of the great music that has come out of CentralHigh School on the radio in advance of their scholarship appearance. We are especially interested in hearing from Central students or Central graduates who are in the know. If you have audio and/or recommendations, please send them along to eric@heiruspecs.com

More details on when and where to tune in are soon to come!
